Re-Sales

You are able to sell your shared ownership home whenever you wish; this is known as a resale.

When you decide to sell your home, for the first eight weeks, or in the timeframe highlighted in your lease, we will market the property on your behalf. This is called the nomination period. We have access to a database of potential buyers for shared ownership and we will do our best to find you a buyer as quick as possible.

In the unlikely event that we have been unsuccessful in finding a buyer for your home during the nomination period, you can then decide to instruct an estate agent to market the property, with the agents’ fees paid for by yourself.

Please note that as your property was originally sold under the shared ownership scheme, any potential buyer must meet the allocation criteria of the Housing Regulator and Gateway Housing.

Our Gateway Resales Guide details the process in full, including information on costs involved. There's also a GHA_Tenants_Rights guide for you to download.

If you have any queries, please do speak to a member of the Gateway Housing team by emailing sales@gatewayhousing.org.uk.
