New lease of life on the island

William Cubitt Lodge has officially opened its doors!

As part of our regeneration project on the Isle of Dogs, E14, William Cubitt Lodge has replaced our previous sheltered scheme St. Johns House and also provides shared ownership homes for over 55’s. In total there are 29 homes, 21 for sheltered housing and 8 for shared ownership.

Residents from St Johns House have now moved into their new homes over at William Cubitt Lodge and are already benefitting from the light and airy large rooms which bring in plenty of natural light. Brand new washing machines, cookers and fridge freezers have all been provided free of charge. Fitted kitchens with personally chosen worktops and carefully thought out easy-access baths and showers are some of the features inside the flats. Communal areas include a fresh modern shared lounge with kitchen and garden area.

Daisy, 88 said: 

‘I didn't want to leave St. John's house I wanted us to be left alone but now I have moved I love my new home. It's huge, the view is fabulous and all the mod cons that are mine. I just wish I was younger so I could enjoy my new home for longer!’

William Cubitt Lodge has been designed and focused around our residents. All the homes meet the HAPPI standard and future proofed so we can constantly adapt our services to the changing needs of our residents.
