Sheltered housing

Gateway is the largest provider of sheltered housing in Tower Hamlets.

Sheltered housing is a block of self-contained flats specially designed for older people. It provides convenient and comfortable independent accommodation in a safe and neighbourly setting.

Our sheltered housing schemes cater for couples or single people over 60 (over 55 at Mosque Tower and Bustaan Radaa), allowing them complete independence within their own flat, but with the knowledge that there is a Scheme Manager on site during working hours. The Scheme Manager is a key part of sheltered housing, providing support to residents and arranging social events and outings.

In each flat the bedroom, sitting room and bathroom are equipped with an emergency bell, which will summon the Scheme Manager if needed and is connected to an alarm system (Care Alarm) when the Scheme Manager is not on site.

For added security each flat has an entry phone to allow controlled access to each flat.
